Emmanuelle Lacaze
Biography:
Emmanuelle Lacaze is currently research director of the Centre national de la Recherche Scientifique (CNRS) in Institute of NanoSciences - Sorbonne university. Her interests concern the physics of liquid crystal phases with a focus on topological defects in smectics, nematics, cholesterics and blue phases. With her group she also studies the interaction between nanoparticles and liquid crystal phases with a focus on the control of nanoparticles assemblies and optical properties.
Emmanuelle Lacaze has a PhD in Physics from Université Paris Cité. She was a fellow from the Japan society for Promotion of Science in RIKEN – Japan. From 2017 to 2021 she has been adjunct scientific director of the Institute of Physics (CNRS-Physique) of CNRS and member of several councils of large scale Facilities in Europe (the synchrotron ESRF, the Neutron sources ILL and ESS, the European XFEL). She is adjunct professor of Case Western Reserve University and was member of the board of the International Liquid Crystal Society until 2024.
Title of the communication:
Structure and dynamics of nanoparticles in liquid crystal topological defects
