Patrick Davidson

Biography:
Patrick Davidson is a Research Director at the Laboratoire de Physique des Solides, a joint institute of the French National Center for Scientific Research (CNRS) and the University of Paris-Saclay, in Orsay, France. Until recently, he oversaw the research activities of the institute in soft condensed matter physics. He is interested in the structure-property relationships of a wide range of soft condensed matter systems, including liquid crystals, which he mostly studies using x-ray scattering techniques, often at synchrotron facilities, and optical microscopy. His current research focuses on colloidal liquid crystals, thermotropic bent-shaped mesogens, and composite materials comprised of liquid crystals. He collaborates extensively with chemists and biologists and enjoys being involved in interdisciplinary projects. He has co-authored over 200 publications and a book on x-ray scattering by liquid crystals (in French).
