Robin Selinger

Biographie:
Robin Selinger completed undergraduate and graduate studies in physics at Harvard University. After postdoctoral work at UCLA, University of Maryland, and NIST, she joined the physics faculty at the Catholic University of America in 1995. In 2005 she joined the faculty at Kent State University where she is affiliated with both the Physics Dept. and the Advanced Materials and Liquid Crystal Institute. She was named a fellow of the American Physical Society (APS) in 2016. She was elected to the APS Council and served 2019-2022, and also served as a member of the APS Board of Directors 2020-2022. Her research lies in theory and simulation studies of soft matter including liquid crystals, liquid crystal elastomers, lipid membranes, and active matter, with a focus on topological defects, breaking of chiral symmetry, and development of innovative simulation methods.
